Nepal Issues 839,270 Labor Approvals for Foreign Employment in FY 2081/82
Record Number of Approvals Processed
The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security has reported issuing a total of 839,270 labor approvals for foreign employment during the fiscal year 2081/82. This includes 550,000 new labor approvals and 333,000 renewed approvals, with new approvals accounting for 60% of the total and renewals making up the remaining 40%.
Decline in Active Manpower Agencies
While there were 1,775 active manpower agencies in previous years, the number decreased to 1,690 in FY 2081/82. Despite this reduction, the ministry processed a significant volume of applications, demonstrating continued high demand for foreign employment opportunities among Nepali workers.
Sustained Trend of Overseas Employment
The data reflects Nepal's ongoing reliance on foreign employment, with hundreds of thousands of workers continuing to seek job opportunities abroad each year. The approval process remains a critical function of the labor ministry as it facilitates legal migration pathways for Nepali workers.
Note: Figures represent official labor approvals processed through proper channels and do not include informal or undocumented migration.
