Legislation related to education as fundamental right to be prepared within five months

 

Kathmandu – Discussions were held here on Sunday between the federal government and the province governments regarding systematising the works related to education. 


Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel held a consultation meeting with the Minister of Social Affairs of all the seven provinces today in connection with reforms in the public education, new laws regarding this, upcoming the Welcome to School and Enrollment campaign, among other issues.

 
On the occasion, the Education Minister pointed out the need for both the federal and local governments to bring reforms in the education sector through coordination. He also stated that the sample laws on education would be made available to the province governments soon. 


According to him, the legislations under the education as fundamental right as mentioned in the constitution would be ready in five months. The Minister also stressed on coordination among the federal, provincial and local level governments while carrying out works on education. 


He urged the provincial social affairs ministers to conduct the Welcome to the School campaign that is kicking off from April 15 in an effective way in collaboration with the local governments. (Photo available)
