MPs draw government's attention on various contemporary issues

Kathmandu, March 5 — Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)'s Chief Whip Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi called on the government to maintain a rule of law and take action against those responsible for the Dasarath stadium incident.

On March 3, spectators watching the final match of the third KP Oli Cup Football Tournament at Dasarath Stadium in Tripuershwor were assaulted. 

In this light, parliamentarian Shahi in today's emergency hour of the House of Representatives (HoR) condemned the attack and demanded action against the culprits.

Shahi also voiced that Nepal Electricity Authority's Managing Director Kulman Ghising should not be immediately removed from his post, stating that Ghising had led the Authority to profit and championed the cause of illuminating Nepal.

Another parliamentarian Sarbendra Shukla called for an investigation into a murder case of Raju Lodh of Rupandehi district. Deepak Lodh alleged shot and murdered Raju Lodh in Rupandehi on February 28 this year, he informed the House. 

He also demanded a probe into another case where the mother of murder case victim was allegedly tortured by police in the same place some 22 months ago.  

Prabhu Shah shared that an elderly Dalit man named Gangaram Baitha of Rautahat district was detained without any apparent reason, and his family were staging sit-in protest. 

He pressed for bringing out the facts and reality surrounding the case. Basudev Ghimire demanded investigation and action into the attempt of suicide by a medical student at Dhulikhel Hospital on February 16. 

Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan also urged an investigation and action into a jeep drove into a crowd of people at Paschim Nawalparashi on February 13. 

Manish Jha advocated for providing remaining facilities and benefits to 103 staffs who got retired from Udayapur Cement Industry Ltd, stating that they were deprived of such facilities even after three years of their retirement. 

Expressing his concern over increasing influence in political appointments in public institutions, Jha opined that the government should not discourage NEA Managing Director Ghising. 

Thakur Prasad Gaire viewed that the agreement between the government and teachers' association should be implemented. He said that the demands of the protesting Federation of the Community Forest Users Nepal be addressed. 

According to him, the country could enhance its export capacity by leveraging forest produces.
