FM Rana to Visit Delhi to invite PM Modi for Sagarmatha Sambad

Kathmandu, March 5 — Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana is set to visit Delhi to extend an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambad program in Nepal.

The invitation requires scheduling a meeting with Prime Minister Modi, and Dr. Shankar Sharma, Nepal's Ambassador to India, has requested the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate the meeting time.

Sources from the Nepali Embassy in India confirmed that Ambassador Sharma met with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to arrange a time with Modi, but there was no positive response from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

Minister Arzu Rana will attend the Raisina Dialogue in India from March 17–19, where she plans to personally invite Prime Minister Modi to the Sagarmatha Sambad.

Originally, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel was scheduled to attend the Raisina Dialogue, but after he decided not to go, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana took on the responsibility.

Rana will use the opportunity of the Raisina Dialogue to visit Delhi and extend the invitation to Prime Minister Modi.

The Sagarmatha Sambad is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from May 16–18.

The government plans to invite heads of state, government leaders, experts, and researchers from various countries for the event.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to invite key figures from India, China, and South Asian nations as special guests.

The first invitation will be extended to Indian Prime Minister Modi.

Efforts are being made for a sideline meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Prime Minister Modi at the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand from April 2–4.
