Land ordinance content and intent are different: Madhav Nepal

Kathmandu, February 28 — Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has stated that the content of the land-related ordinance is one thing, but the intent of Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli is something entirely different.

He claimed that the land-related ordinance, among the six ordinances introduced by the government, is also flawed, and criticized Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli for carrying out wrongful actions.

Speaking at a comprehensive discussion organized by the Intellectual Professionals Federation close to the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal on the land-related ordinance, Nepal emphasized that Prime Minister Oli feels pride in violating the constitution and has made no efforts to discuss any issues with others.

He further mentioned that Prime Minister Oli had dissolved the parliament twice and was stopped by the court.

He questioned whether such a Prime Minister, with such a background, could be trusted to do good work.

He added, “Prime Minister Oli is surrounded by doubt."

Chairman Nepal also stated that bringing a bill, which is under consideration in the parliamentary committee, as an ordinance was inappropriate.

He pointed out that Prime Minister Oli violated this process, bringing the ordinance even during the parliamentary session, bypassing the scheduled meeting.

Nepal clarified that after their opposition, the parliament was eventually convened.

However, he also stated that the ordinance had already been issued before the session.

He further explained that the country faces land-related issues, including encroachment on forests.
