Internal revenue collection falls short in Lumbini province

Butwal, February 28 — The revenue collection of the Lumbini Province Government has been weak. As of the end of Magh in the current fiscal year, the province has only collected 44% of the total estimated revenue target.
According to Deepak Gyawali, the Chief of the Provincial Financial Comptroller's Office, a total of NPR 17.15 billion has been collected by the end of Magh from various sources, including grants and allocations from the federal government, internal income, and cash reserves.
The target for internal sources was set at NPR 4.71 billion, but by the end of Magh, only NPR 1.05 billion (22% of the target) was collected.
The Provincial Financial Comptroller's Office also mentioned that the province set a target of NPR 52.61 million for revenue collection from agriculture, but only NPR 1,500 was collected.
Similarly, for the leasing of government property, a target of NPR 7.83 million was set, but only NPR 436,406 was collected.
Additionally, the revenue collected from non-royalty sources, including agricultural product sales, was below expectations.
The target for agricultural product sales revenue was NPR 46.99 million, but only NPR 6.93 million was collected by the end of Magh.
The overall revenue collection from other sources also fell short of the expected amount.
