Eleven-member subcommittee formed to resolve disputes over Civil Service Bill

Kathmandu, February 21 — An eleven-member subcommittee has been formed to resolve the issues related to the Civil Service Bill, 2024.

The meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee held on Friday announced that the subcommittee, chaired by Nepali Congress MP Dilendra Prasad Badu, would address the controversial aspects of the bill.

Committee Chairman Ramhari Khatiwada provided this information.

During detailed discussions, when consensus was not reached, the subcommittee was formed to resolve the issues.

He stated, "Since we were unable to reach an agreement during the discussions, it was inevitable that problems would arise. Therefore, I would like to make a unified request for all these controversial issues to be addressed."

The committee also mentioned that a subcommittee would be formed to expedite the discussion of all service-related issues and present them in the committee as quickly as possible.

The members of the subcommittee include Raghuji Panta and Leelanath Shrestha from the CPN (UML), Ishwari Neupane from Nepali Congress, Hitaraj Pandey from the Maoist Center, Dr. Chanda Karki from Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Prakash Adhikari from Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, Ashok Rai from Janata Samajwadi Party, Rajendra Pandey from CPN (Unified Socialist), Buddhiman Tamang from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Sarvendranath Shukla from Loktantrik Samajwadi Party.

The subcommittee has been given one month to reach a consensus on the bill and submit its report to the committee.
