PM Oli rejects death sentence for corrupt

Kathmandu, February 16 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that under the current legal system, it is not appropriate to sentence corrupt individuals to death.

He made this remark in response to a question raised by MP Prem Suwal during a question-and-answer session in Parliament on Sunday, where the issue of capital punishment for corrupt individuals was discussed.

Oli mentioned that while legal decisions may sometimes be flawed, capital punishment is not a solution to the problem.

He added that once a death sentence is carried out, it cannot be reversed, and it is crucial to avoid taking anyone's life.

He emphasized that rather than focusing on taking lives, the society should prioritize humanity, legal systems, and governance.

He also mentioned that it is not appropriate to justify taking another person's life.
