8th Indian Ocean Conference kicks off in Muscat

Kathmandu, February 16 — The 8th Indian Ocean Conference begins today in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has arrived in Muscat to participate in the event, where she was welcomed by her Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar and Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

Dr. Rana had departed for Oman on Friday at the invitation of Minister Al Busaidi. During the visit, she is scheduled to address a session titled "Amplifying the Voice of the Global South."

Minister Rana will also hold bilateral meetings with Oman's Foreign Minister and the Minister of Energy and Minerals.

In addition, agreements in the areas of mutual cooperation are expected to be signed, as informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
