Unified Socialist calls Nepali Congress's request for ordinance support natural

Kathmandu, February 14 — The CPN (Unified Socialist) has expressed that the Nepali Congress's decision to seek their cooperation on the ordinance is a natural step.
After the ruling parties, LSP-Nepal and JSP-Nepal, expressed their opposition to the ordinance brought by the government, the ruling party decided to engage in discussions with other parties under 'Track Two'.
Accordingly, on Friday, during a discussion between some Congress leaders at the residence of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Nepali Congress decided to initiate efforts to garner the necessary majority to approve the ordinance in the National Assembly and to hold talks with the Unified Socialist in this regard.
"It is natural for the Nepali Congress to seek our cooperation. It’s possible to talk, but the Nepali Congress has not yet made an official proposal," said Rajendra Pandey, Senior Vice Chairman of the Unified Socialist, in a telephone conversation with Ratopati.
"If an official conversation happens, then we will discuss further," he added.
Pandey mentioned that his party had already registered a notice rejecting the ordinance, adding that there were several problematic aspects of the ordinance.
He also indicated that they could cooperate if the ruling party committed to amending the ordinance.
"If the ruling side decides, we will join. But it would not be right to move forward with incorrect things just for the sake of power-sharing," said Pandey, adding, "It’s like stitching the coat before the child is even born."
