Bhattarai elected as Chair of NSP (Naya Shakti)

Kathmandu, February 13 — Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been elected as the chairman of the Nepal Samajwadi Party (Naya Shakti), defeating his rival Netra Chapai, who was also vying for the position.

The newly elected vice-chairman of the party, Manushi Yami Bhattarai, confirmed Dr. Bhattarai's victory, stating that the official announcement would be made at a press conference at 5 PM. 

The press conference will be held at the Siddhicharan Hall of Nepal Academy, where newly elected office-bearers and members will take an oath, and Bhattarai will also deliver a special address.

The election process for the leadership selection began on Sunday with the party's first general convention at the Nepal Academy.

Earlier, Bhattarai's political and organizational report was approved in the convention's closed session.
