Kathmandu, February 13 — Repair work has begun on a broken pipe of the bulk water distribution system in Babarmahal, which was damaged during horizontal drilling for underground power cables by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Wednesday.
Following the direction of the Minister for Water Supply, Pradeep Yadav, the repair work on the broken pipe of the Kathmandu bulk distribution system began last night, as informed by Ashok Kumar Poudel, the Chief Executive Director of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL).
He stated, “After the pipe broke, water flooded the Babarmahal area. Once the water supply was halted, we began the repair work last night.
Once the repairs are completed, we will resume water distribution.”
Minister Yadav has mentioned that the damage to the water supply pipe in Babarmahal occurred because the NEA did not coordinate with the ministry and its associated bodies.
The pipe break during the horizontal drilling for the underground power lines led to flooding, damaging government offices, including the Special Court.
The water also entered the premises of the Forest Office, causing damage.
Clean-up activities in these areas have now started, and employees have reported that government documents and carpets inside these offices have been soaked in water.
