MP raises 'Long Live the People’s War' slogan in Parliament

Kathmandu, February 10 — While Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been facing criticism for calling the People's War violence, a lawmaker from the CPN (Maoist Center) raised slogans in favor of the People's War during the session of the House of  Representatives.

In the zero hour of Monday’s session, MP Gyanu Basnet Subedi shouted “Long Live the People’s War!” She also criticized Prime Minister Oli for starting a regressive debate by labeling the People’s War as violence.

"With just three days left for the People's War Day, it is disheartening to hear the Prime Minister randomly speak of violence. Even in Parliament, the narrative of violence is being pushed. I regret that the People’s War is being called violence," Basnet said in the Parliament.

MP Basnet Subedi added, "I will continue to say, Long Live the Great People’s War, Long Live! Red Salute!"
