Kathmandu, February 10 — The outgoing office-bearers of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary) have been assigned central representative responsibilities within the CPN (Maoist Center).
The former student leaders were given these responsibilities according to the decisions made during the central committee meeting held from January 5-7.
The decision, passed in a meeting of Maoist Center's office-bearers on January 28, was shared through a circular.
The representatives appointed include GP Mainali for Bagmati Province, Tukman Mahara for Lumbini Province, Milan MC for Lumbini Province, Laxmiprasad Joshi for Sudurpashchim Province, and Naresh Regmi for the Policy Department.
Similarly, Prabina Adhikari has been appointed for Gandaki Province, Gajendra Prasad Dev for Madhes Province, Madan Bhul for Sudurpashchim Province, Madan Bhattrai for Koshi Province, and Suryanaryan Sah for Madhes Province.
Additionally, Pawan Karki for Bagmati Province, Kshitiz Sapkota for Bagmati Province, Narayan Khanal for the Policy Department, Ammaraj Shahi for Karnali Province, Achyut Bhatta for Sudurpashchim Province, and Keshab Rawal for Lumbini Province have also been appointed. However, Keshav Rawal has announced that he will not take up the responsibility as a central representative.
Rawal had previously stated that he was part of the Lumbini Province committee with Chairman Prachanda and other task force leaders, and therefore, would not accept the central representative responsibility. However, despite his request, he was assigned the position and announced he would not hold it.
Meanwhile, outgoing General Secretary Dipesh Pun has been given the responsibility as a central representative for Lumbini Province.
The former student leaders, who had been contenders for the chairmanship during the 23rd National Conference of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary), were unable to contest the elections due to the 32-year age limit.
To manage the retired student leaders within the party, the Maoist Center formed a three-member task force, led by Deputy General Secretary Shakti Basnet.
The task force recommended appointing alternate central committee members of the Maoist Center for positions up to the level of General Secretary in the ANNFSU (R).
