SC postpones all cases to mourn the death of former judge Acharya

Kathmandu, February 9 — All cases scheduled for Sunday at the Supreme Court were postponed following the death of Justice Arvindanath Acharya.

He passed away on Friday at the age of 86 years and 9 months.

Due to the public holiday on Saturday, a full-court meeting was held on Sunday to announce the suspension of all hearings in respect of Justice Acharya's passing, informed Nirajan Pandey, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court.

Acharya, born on 14th Baisakh, 1995 BS, in Maitidevi, started his career in government service in 2018 BS.

He became a Supreme Court Justice on 1st Magh, 2059 BS, and served in that role until 13th of Baisakh, 2060 BS.

As per tradition, when a Supreme Court Justice passes away, a full-court meeting is convened, and no hearings are held in respect of the loss.

Following this practice, no cases were heard on Sunday.
