Retired ANNFSU (R) leaders proposed as alternative CC members of Maoist Center
Kathmandu, February 3 — The task force formed by the CPN (Maoist Center) has proposed appointing retired secretariat members of its sister organization, the All Nepal National Free Students' Union (Revolutionary), as alternative central committee members of the party.
The proposal was made by a three-member task force led by Deputy General Secretary Shakti Basnet.
The task force suggested appointing former vice-chairs and the former general secretary as alternative members of the central committee, according to task force member Himal Sharma.
The report prepared by the task force was submitted to Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today.
According to Sharma, the task force meeting held on January 21 decided to assign responsibilities in accordance with the interests and capabilities of the students.
Sharma explained, "We made decisions to assign responsibilities based on the interests and abilities of the students. We submitted the report to Chairman Prachanda today. We have made our recommendations, and now the party will make the final decision."
Sharma also mentioned that they have suggested managing retired Deputy General Secretaries and others in provincial committees, central departments, or other levels within the party.
In the election held on December 28, 2024, where the decision of whether to impose an age limit of 32 for All Nepal National Free Students' Union (Revolutionary) members was debated, the supporters of the open-age stance lost.
Nearly a thousand student leaders were excluded due to the age limit.
Out of the 179 office bearers in the previous committee, 138 have been excluded, including the former Vice Chair and General Secretary.
