Ashika Tamang released on 20,000 rupee bail
Kathmandu, January 31 — The Bhaktapur District Court has ordered the release of Ashika Tamang on a bail of 20,000 rupees.
Judge Santosh Prasad Parajuli issued the order, stating that she should be released on bail for the charge of committing a criminal offense.
Tamang, who claimed to be an activist, had protested the decision of the Suryabinayak Municipality to collect a 20-rupee tax from those entering the Sanga cable car area. She had seized and burned receipts from the municipality's staff in protest.
Based on a complaint filed by the municipality, police from the Jagate Police Circle investigated the matter and submitted a report to the authorities.
