Roshan Thapa Magar elected as ANNFSU (R) general secretary

Kathmandu, January 29 — Roshan Thapa Magar has been elected as the General Secretary of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary).

The final results from the Kathmandu Valley and University special provinces confirmed that Thapamagar won with 598 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Sanjay Mahato, who secured 410 votes.

Thapa Magar was supported by the panel of Hemanta Rai, while Mahato was backed by the faction of Bijay Prakash Sapkota. The vote margin between them was 188 votes.

In other results, nine vice-chairs were elected, including Bipin Pokhrel from Koshi with 831 votes, Gajendra Yadav from Madhesh with 407 votes, Nirmala Gautam from Bagmati with 803 votes, Bhagwan Bastola from Gandaki with 769 votes, Resham Adhikari from Lumbini with 628 votes, Prakash Adhikari from Karnali with 604 votes, and Ramchandra Bhatta from Sudurpaschim with 399 votes.

Niroj Shrestha from Kathmandu Valley special province and Jatil Karki from University special province both won with 648 votes. Except for Niroj Shrestha and Bipin Pokharel, all the other winners were supported by Janardan Sharma, the Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center.

Additionally, among the 12 secretaries, previous victories included Sharma faction members Birendra GC, Samakriti Pun, Amar Mandal, Astrik Moktan, and Yunchhohang Mabo.

Fulmaya Rana 'Khushi' won the position of Treasurer.
