Speaker Ghimire to meet chief whips of major parties

Kathmandu, January 27 — Speaker of the Parliament, Devraj Ghimire, will continue discussions regarding preparations for the upcoming parliamentary session today.

Speaker Ghimire will meet with the chief whips and whips of the major five political parties in Parliament today (Monday).

According to the Speaker's Secretariat, the meeting is scheduled to take place at 11 AM in the Speaker’s office at Singha Durbar. On Sunday, Speaker Ghimire had already held discussions with the chief whips of both the ruling and opposition parties.

Ahead of the winter session of Parliament scheduled for January 31, the Speaker has been holding continuous discussions with representatives from various parties about the operation and preparations for the session.

Tensions have risen after the government issued ordinances just days before the winter session is set to begin, with opposition parties expressing anger.

The opposition parties are preparing to raise strong objections in Parliament against the ordinance, while the ruling side is ready to defend it.
