CAN imposes disciplinary action on Sandeep Lamichhane
Kathmandu, January 21 — The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has taken disciplinary action against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.
CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama confirmed that the action was taken a week ago.
Lama stated, "During the recently concluded Jay Trophy Elite Cup, Sandeep Lamichhane made comments about the umpire’s decision on social media. Based on this, a disciplinary action letter was sent a week ago in accordance with CAN's Article 2.7."
As part of the punishment, Lamichhane has been suspended for one match and will not be allowed to participate in any matches organized by CAN.
Following the action, Lamichhane expressed his dissatisfaction on Facebook on January 19, where he thanked his supporters and hinted at retirement, stating, "Thank you, everyone, for everything. The incredible people of this country and this beautiful nation have always stood by me, providing unwavering support at every step of my journey. Your love and encouragement mean the world to me and will always hold a special place in my heart."
