Finance Minister Paudel urges banks to prioritize objectives
Kathmandu, January 20 — Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has urged banks to prioritize achieving their objectives.
Speaking at the 58th anniversary celebration of the Agricultural Development Bank in Kathmandu on Monday, he emphasized that banks must focus on capacity development, strengthening their abilities, and maintaining their reputation as top priorities.
He stated that only when banks are strong and effective will the respect for their employees rise, and the bank will gain the trust of citizens. Paudel stressed that bank employees should first prioritize the bank's progress and development in their work.
Deputy Prime Minister Paudel said, “A bank that has strong management and good relationships among employees is more likely to progress. I urge all bank staff, including those in trade unions, to make the bank’s capacity, strength, and reputation the highest priority on your agenda.”
He further added, “When the bank is strong, effective, and its reputation rises, the respect for all employees also increases. Everyone will benefit from savings. However, when the bank’s performance weakens, the damage will be shared by all. So, the first priority should be the bank’s progress and development. The objectives for which the bank was established must be given the highest priority.”
Paudel also pointed out that some institutions have failed to make the expected progress due to a lack of good relations between management and employees. He raised concerns about the ratio of bank deposits, which he deemed worrying.
