Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal up for cabinet vote; 40 killed in Gaza
Gaza, January 16 — Palestinians in Gaza are celebrating after mediators confirmed a ceasefire deal has been reached between Hamas and Israel after 15 months of war.
The truce, if approved, will take effect on Sunday, January 19.
The Israeli military has stepped up attacks on the Gaza Strip since the announcement, killing at least 40 Palestinians, according to media reports.
The killings come as the Israeli cabinet prepares to vote on the deal.
