Young woman stabbed in Thankot, suspect arrested

Kathmandu, January 14 — A young woman was stabbed in Thankot, Kathmandu on January 10.

The victim, 27-year-old Saru Magar from Dang, was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Trauma Center.

The police have arrested 35-year-old Chandrabahadur Khatri from Gangadev Rural Municipality, Rolpa, who allegedly attacked the victim.

Khatri is currently under investigation for attempted murder.

According to the District Police Office in Kathmandu, the investigation is ongoing with a court-approved remand.

The victim sustained injuries to the back of her neck and face.

Police reports indicate that Saru and Khatri were former acquaintances.

Khatri had been working in Saudi Arabia for five years and had reportedly sent money to Saru.

When he returned to Nepal and attempted to reconnect, Saru denied recognizing him, leading to a confrontation. The argument escalated, resulting in the stabbing.

The incident occurred in front of Saru's sister’s vegetable shop in Thankot. Saru was initially taken to Med Point Hospital in Satungal and later transferred to the Trauma Center for further treatment.
