Rabi Lamichhane's detention hearing begins

Kathmandu, January 12 — The detention hearing of Rabi Lamichhane, the President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is facing charges in a cooperative fraud case, has begun.

The hearing started in the courtroom of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari at the Kathmandu District Court.

After Rabi Lamichhane's statement is completed in the courtroom of Judge Adhikari, the detention hearing will take place later today.

Lamichhane appeared in court on Sunday after the charge sheet was filed against him for embezzling funds from the Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative.

The police investigation concluded that Lamichhane illegally withdrew 57.9 million Nepali Rupees from the Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative.

The government attorney has demanded a restitution of the same amount.
