Durga Prasain presented before SC
Kathmandu, December 20 — Durga Prasain, a medical entrepreneur and coordinator of the Nation, Nationalism, Religion, Culture, and Citizen Rescue Campaign, has been presented before the Supreme Court.
He was brought in after the second petition for habeas corpus was filed, with the court ordering his presence along with the detainee.
Although he was released on bail in a cybercrime case, Prasain claims that the police have maliciously re-arrested him and has requested release on general dates.
Previously, he had filed a habeas corpus petition, but it was dismissed. The Supreme Court stated that if the investigation conducted while he is in custody is found to be lawful, the petition will be dismissed; however, if deemed unlawful, he will be ordered to be released on general dates or bail.
Prasain was arrested for allegedly spreading rumors against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The police have filed charges against him in the district court, and investigations are ongoing regarding public offenses and forgery.
Furthermore, the authorities are preparing to investigate him for money laundering.
Prasain, claiming to be a cancer patient, has filed a habeas corpus petition, stating that he is being re-arrested and presented before the court with the malicious intent of causing him further distress through multiple cases.
