Committee formed to investigate Rabi Lamichhane's custody photo leak

Pokhara, December 19 — A committee has been formed to investigate the photo of Rabi Lamichhane inside police custody that was shared on social media.

The committee, led by SSP Mukund Marasini, head of the Gandaki Province Training Center, has been tasked with the investigation.

DIG Bhola Bahadur Rawal, chief of the Gandaki Province Police, informed that the committee must submit a report within three days. "The committee has been formed. It will investigate the facts and submit a report within three days," he said.

Given the nature of the incident, Rawal pointed out serious negligence on the part of the police.

"From the looks of it, there seems to be serious negligence on the part of the police. The person responsible has already been identified," he said. "The investigation will reveal who is at fault, and action will be taken against those responsible."

Kaski Police Chief SP Shyam Babu Oliya stated that internal investigations have already started. There are six detention cells inside the Kaski Police complex, and 20 CCTV cameras monitor these cells. Lamichhane is being held in a "single" cell.

The publicized photo was taken on December 14 at 3:58:17 PM. Following the release of the photo, experts pointed out concerns about human rights violations and security threats within the police complex.
