Surkhet Tragedy: Mother and son die from suffocation

Surkhet, December 19 — A 30-year-old woman, Devishara Thapa, and her 6-year-old son, Riyan Thapa, were found dead due to suffocation in their home in Surkhet.

The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, but the police were only notified about it on Thursday morning when no one came outside the house after breakfast.

According to the district police office in Surkhet, initial investigations revealed that charcoal was burning in the house, leading to the suffocation.

Upon reaching the house, the police found all three members of the family unconscious.

They were rushed to the hospital, but the mother and son were declared dead.

The 9-year-old daughter, Riya Thapa, was found in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment at Karnali Province Hospital.
