Efforts underway to bring GB Rai back to Nepal: Home Minister

Rupandehi, December 18 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stated that criminal investigations will not be based on the appearance of a person.

Speaking at a press meeting in Rupandehi on Wednesday morning, he emphasized that investigations will be conducted according to legal procedures and within the bounds of the law.

He also mentioned that there should be no political interference in investigations. He further added that law enforcement agencies connected to peace and security should not be misused for political gains.

According to him, police organizations should never be used unnecessarily for the benefit or harm of any individual.

The Home Minister stated that investigations would be carried out on everyone involved in criminal activities, including the President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, who is under investigation for embezzling cooperative funds.

He mentioned that in recent times, hundreds of people involved in cooperative fraud, mismanagement, and corruption have been investigated and sent to prison.

Minister Lekhak also clarified that no human rights violations occurred when the accused Lamichhane was being transferred from Chitwan to Pokhara. He questioned why human rights violations are highlighted when millions of people lose their money, but not when people involved in corruption and embezzling large sums of money harm others.

Additionally, the Home Minister mentioned that efforts are underway to bring Gitenedra Babu Rai (GB Rai) back to Nepal. He assured that the government is taking steps for action against those involved in such crimes.
