PM Oli vows legal action against anyone involved in TU land scandal
Kathmandu, December 18 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that anyone involved in the illegal transfer of land belonging to Tribhuvan University (TU) will face legal action.
“The government will implement the recommendations made by the commission that investigated TU's land, after further studying the facts suggested in the report,” Oli said via Facebook on Wednesday. “The land of Tribhuvan University will be brought under the university’s name, and anyone involved in illegal activities will be subject to legal action.”
Oli also mentioned that areas not studied by the commission would be further investigated.
“The subjects recommended by the commission will be implemented immediately, and the remaining issues will be studied further. Once we take action, we will resolve them definitively,” he said.
On Tuesday, the commission led by Sharada Prasad Trital, which was formed to investigate the land and property of Tribhuvan University, handed over its report.
Oli also recalled that in 2019, a commission was formed under the leadership of Trital to investigate the land of Lalita Niwas, and that the government is currently in the process of transferring the land under the government’s name, with legal cases ongoing, which he also mentioned on his Facebook.
