Prachanda emphasizes struggle against 'economic interests' in Nepal

Chitwan, December 12 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), stated that he had to fight for 18 months against groups attempting to influence economic activities in their favor.

Speaking at the third annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Industry and Trade in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Prachanda said that certain groups had tried to dictate economic policies to the Prime Minister, a move he strongly opposed.

Prachanda reflected on his tenure as Prime Minister, stating that despite the challenges of battling these groups, he felt proud and satisfied with the struggle and perseverance.

He also voiced concerns about the decline of agriculture-based industries in Nepal, asserting that the country's dependence on imported goods has made it vulnerable.

Prachanda urged industry and business leaders to focus on building a self-reliant national economy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening industries and businesses in the country to create domestic employment and improve economic stability.

He encouraged the Federation to continue pushing forward with these objectives.
