UNESCO to continue its cooperation to Nepal
Kathmandu– The United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has been playing crucial role towards pushing educational advancement and preserving the cultural heritages during 20 years of its partnership with Nepal.
Addressing a reception hosted by UNESCO Representative Christian Manhart here on Wednesday evening to celebrate 20 years of its collaboration, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel lauded the UN agency role in preserving and exploring cultural heritages of Nepal.
He also expressed gratefulness to UNESCO for its cooperation to Nepal's bid to rebuild historical heritages devastated by the earthquake and also recalled its contributions to the professional advancement of journalism and expansion of community communications.
UN Resident Representative Valerie Julliand said that the UNESCO has been providing support to Nepal's peace process, education, science and technology, defence of press freedom and development of community communications and pledged to continue such supports in future as well.
