Home Minister Lekhak urges discipline and security for peace and order

Kathmandu, November 19 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak emphasized the need for maintaining peace and discipline in the country. Speaking at a security seminar in Dhangadhi, Kailali, he stated, "While establishing peace is the nation's top priority, ensuring discipline is equally essential."

The provincial-level seminar began on Tuesday in Dhangadhi. Minister Lekhak instructed security agencies to ensure the upcoming local by-elections on December 1 are conducted impartially and peacefully. He added, "Democracy has no alternative but democracy itself, and it is our collective responsibility to protect and strengthen it."

Highlighting the disciplined nature of democracy, he underscored the importance of maintaining order. He also directed authorities to work rigorously on issues such as revenue leakage at border points, drug control, prevention of suicides, disaster management, and road accident reduction.

"You must go beyond what you are currently doing and work with greater dedication," the Home Minister urged security officers. The seminar brought together security chiefs, chief district officers, the Home Ministry Secretary, and leaders from all three security agencies from nine districts of the Sudurpashchim Province.
