NEPSE index rises by 14 points on last trading day of the week
Kathmandu, November 14 — On the last trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 14 points. Although the index saw a modest increase, the total trading volume exceeded 10 billion rupees. On Thursday, 2.16 million shares were bought and sold, with a total transaction value of 10.32 billion rupees.
For the week as a whole, the stock market saw an overall increase of 10%. On Sunday, the index was at 2,738 points. On Monday, it rose by 22 points, reaching 2,760 points. However, the market saw a decline on Tuesday and Wednesday. When the market closed on Wednesday, the index stood at 2,734.38 points. On Thursday, the index reached 2,748.79 points by the end of trading.
On Thursday, the share prices of 159 companies increased, while 79 companies saw a decrease, and the share prices of 6 companies remained unchanged. Notably, companies like Gurans Microfinance, Swabhiman Microfinance, and Upper Hewakhola Hydroelectric saw a 10% increase in their share prices.
In terms of trading volume, Janaki Finance Limited topped the list, with shares worth 35.25 million rupees traded on Thursday.
Additionally, the Hydropower sub-group index rose by 1.34%, while the Development Bank sub-group index increased by 1.21%. However, no other sub-group saw a rise of even 1%.
