Four held for cow slaughter

 

 

Jitpur, Kapilbastu – Police has taken four people under control from Jyotinagar, Bijayapur Rural Municipality-4 in Kapilbastu district on the charge of cow slaughter. 


The arrest was made at night time acting on a tip-off that some people in the village had slaughtered a cow. Police arrested 70-year-old Hum Bahadur Rana with 30 kilogrammes beef. Upon interrogation, police found that Rana had hidden large quantity of beef and he also acknowledged that. 


Three of Rana's accomplices were arrested on Saturday a day after his arrest, police said. Those arrested Saturday for colluding with Rana in the crime include Kumari Gharti,Ram Kumari Gharti and Kunti Thapa, Chief of the Ganeshpur Area Police Office, Khim Bahadur Gham, said. 


Cow is the national animal and its slaughter is prohibited by law.
