NEPSE index declines by 20.41 points
Kathmandu, October 23 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a decline on the fourth trading day of the week today (Wednesday). The index fell by 20.41 points, settling at 2,645.39. On this day, the market recorded a trading volume equivalent to NPR 6.27 billion.
The market had seen significant drops on Sunday and Monday, with a slight rebound on Tuesday; however, it resumed its downward correction on Wednesday. Despite the declining trend, trading volumes have remained robust. While the market increased previously, Wednesday's trading amount was limited to NPR 4.07 billion, representing an increase of nearly 54% compared to the previous day.
On Wednesday, the prices of 155 companies decreased, while 76 companies saw an increase. The prices of 13 companies remained stable. In the context of the declining market, all indices except for finance and trading showed negative movements. The finance index rose by 2.32%, whereas the banking index decreased by 1.70%.
Additionally, the first quarterly reports for banks and financial institutions were published on Wednesday. A lack of investor confidence in these reports has led to a notable drop in the banking index.
On Wednesday, the price of ICFC Finance triggered a positive circuit, resulting in investors in Samriddhi Finance earning over 9%. Mahuli Microfinance emerged as the company with the largest price drop for the day. Notably, ICFC Bank recorded the highest trading volume of NPR 430 million. While ICFC Finance led in terms of the number of transactions, Kumari Bank was at the forefront based on the number of shares traded.
