Prachanda criticizes government's first hundred days as focused on protecting corruption

Kathmandu, October 23 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has remarked that the government's first hundred days have been solely focused on protecting corrupt practices.

Prachanda made these comments during a meeting with officials from the party-affiliated Nepal Intellectual Organization on Wednesday morning.

"The government has reached its hundred-day mark, and what we suspected at the time of its formation has been confirmed within this period," Prachanda stated while analyzing the government's performance. "Not only the opposition parties, but also leaders from civil society and even those within the ruling party have expressed dissatisfaction. This clearly indicates that the government has failed to focus on necessary tasks and is instead concentrated on improper actions."

He pointed out that the government's efforts to remove the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority for attempts to collect outstanding taxes from industries and recent actions by the Prime Minister's party to accept land donations from controversial businessmen further confirm that this government is siding with corrupt interests.

Emphasizing the need to stop the government's erroneous behaviors and focus on essential tasks, Prachanda noted that five opposition parties have already submitted a memorandum to draw attention to the government's activities. He also mentioned that he intends to meet with the President to discuss these concerns.

Prachanda highlighted that his party is preparing to raise its voice against the government's misdeeds, announcing plans to hold an awareness meeting in Kathmandu on October 26, organized by the Bagmati Province Committee, Special Province Committee, and Coordination Province Committee.

He noted that there is a growing positive atmosphere nationwide for the party and urged the intellectual organization to enhance its role accordingly.
