Dengue cases rise to 22,000 nationwide; 11 deaths reported

Kathmandu, October 22 — Among the 22,000 confirmed dengue cases across the country, 11 individuals have succumbed to the disease.

According to the latest statistics from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), a total of 22,082 dengue infections have been reported since January, with 11 fatalities recorded.

Furthermore, the division has noted that dengue has spread to 76 out of 77 districts. Kathmandu has been the most affected area, with 3,594 reported cases of dengue in the city. In Kaski, 3,188 confirmed cases have also been documented.

Dengue is a vector-borne disease transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

To prevent mosquito bites, health experts recommend wearing clothing that covers the entire body, filling in any holes or puddles, promptly repairing any leaks in drinking water or drainage systems, storing empty containers upside down, thoroughly cleaning and emptying water tanks, and using mosquito nets while sleeping.
