Opposition parties to submit memorandum to PM today
Kathmandu, October 21 — Opposition parties currently outside the government are set to submit a memorandum today to the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his office in Singhadurbar at 4:30 PM.
During a meeting held on Friday at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, it was decided to present a memorandum addressing various issues, including a review of the government's first hundred days, relief and rehabilitation following recent landslides and floods, good governance, social justice, and livelihoods.
Additionally, a three-member task force was established to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation.
The memorandum will be presented to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his office in Singhadurbar at 4:30 PM, as stated by Shakti Basnet, a member of the task force and Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre). "Today's agenda includes submitting a memorandum to the Prime Minister to highlight the need for government action on relief and rehabilitation for those affected by the floods and landslides, as well as issues of good governance and livelihoods," Basnet informed Ratopati.
The task force comprises Basnet, along with Rajendra Pandey, Senior Vice Chair of the Unified Socialist Party, and Shishir Khanal, a leader of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. The opposition parties concluded that the Oli government has been wholly ineffective and decided to exert pressure to advocate for pro-people initiatives, development, good governance, social justice, and prosperity. They also resolved to demand a special session of Parliament if the government fails to take action after the memorandum is submitted.
