Court grants six-day detention for former DPM Rabi Lamichhane
Kathmandu, October 20 — The court has granted permission to detain former Home Minister and president of the Rashtriya Swotantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, for six days. The Kaski District Court has authorized the Kaski Police to hold him for six days for the purpose of investigation.
Suraj Adhikari, the information officer of the Kaski District Court, confirmed that Judge Nabaraj Dahal’s bench has allowed the police to detain Lamichhane for investigative purposes. Today, the District Police Office of Kaski presented him in court for an extension of remand in connection with cooperative fraud and organized crime investigations.
Following the court proceedings, the judge granted the extension, allowing the police to proceed with their investigative work.
On Friday, Lamichhane was apprehended in relation to the Surydarshan cooperative fraud case and was subsequently transported to Pokhara that same night. In response to his arrest, party leaders and activists have expressed their outrage, taking to the streets in protest.
Demonstrations by Rashtriya Swotantra Party activists continued throughout Sunday in Pokhara.
