Buddha Air '9N-AJS' returns safely after technical glitch
Kathmandu, October 17 — A technical issue has been reported with the Buddha Air mountain flight operated by the aircraft with the call sign '9N-AJS.' According to Buddha Air's information officer, Dipendra Kumar Karna, the aircraft was safely returned for landing after the technical problem was identified.
Currently, a technical team is inspecting the aircraft. “A technical issue was observed in the right engine of the aircraft during the mountain flight, prompting a safe return. Repairs are underway,” he stated. “Due to deteriorating weather conditions, the mountains were not visible, and no mountain flights took place today.”
A statement from Buddha Air confirmed, “This morning, flight number 100, with call sign '9N-AJS,' experienced an indicator issue in the right engine, leading to a safe landing in Kathmandu. The Buddha Air technical team is currently conducting checks on the aircraft.”
All five scheduled flights for today’s mountain flight have been canceled. The company indicated that passengers holding tickets would be accommodated on the next available flight. Information officer Karki mentioned that the aircraft returning from the mountain flight could not see the mountains.
The company also stated that no mountain flights occurred today due to dense fog in the Himalayan region. Currently, the country is experiencing partial effects of western winds, and the local winds are also having a partial impact in the hilly areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, resulting in partial to generally overcast conditions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's Weather Forecast Division.
The division has forecasted a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in a few areas of the hilly regions of Gandaki Province, as well as in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
