Former minister Dambar Shrestha passes away

Kathmandu,October 16 — Former Minister Dambar Shrestha has passed away. He died in his residence in Chitwan on Wednesday morning after battling cancer.

A consultant member of the Standing Committee of the CPN (Marxist Leninist), he had been receiving treatment for cancer at the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan, for a long time.

The CPN (Marxist Leninist) issued a statement on Wednesday expressing shock at his demise.

“Comrade Damber’s passing is a loss of a responsible leader for the party and a reliable revolutionary comrade for Nepal’s working class. This is an irreparable loss,” stated the release by General Secretary CP Mainali.

Shrestha was the Minister for Land Reform and Management in former PM Madhav Nepal's cabinet.
