Remittances surge: NPR 126.21 billion inflow in just one month
Kathmandu, October 15 — In just one month, remittances worth NPR 126.21 billion have flowed into Nepal. According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, this amount corresponds to the remittance inflow for the month of Bhadra in the current fiscal year.
In the month of Shrawan, remittances amounted to NPR 136.93 billion. Thus, the total remittance inflow over the two months has reached NPR 263.14 billion, as reported by the central bank.
This inflow during the two-month period is equivalent to a 22.80% increase compared to the remittance inflow in the same two months of the previous fiscal year. Of this, remittances received in US dollars are valued at NPR 1.02 billion.
During this two-month period, the number of individuals obtaining final labor approvals for foreign employment stands at 36,928, while 22,647 have received re-approval. Although the number of new labor approvals has decreased, there has been an increase in the number of re-approvals. In the same period last year, the numbers were 39,152 for new labor approvals and 16,423 for re-approvals.
