Monsoon winds affecting Koshi and Bagmati: Weather forecasts call for caution
Kathmandu, October 3 — The monsoon winds are affecting the country. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has indicated a partial influence from a low-pressure system formed in the northeastern Indian state of Assam and its surrounding areas.
As a result, there is partial to generally cloudy weather in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the remaining areas are mostly clear with some partial cloudiness. In a few places of the Koshi and Bagmati provinces, light to moderate rainfall is occurring, along with thunderstorms, and light rain is reported in one or two locations of the Gandaki province.
Today, the weather will remain partially to generally cloudy in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the remaining provinces will be mostly clear with some partial cloudiness. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, a few places in the Madhesh province, and one or two locations in the other provinces. Additionally, there is a chance of heavy rainfall in a couple of places in the Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as strong winds in a few areas of the Terai region in the Koshi province.
Tonight, the weather is expected to be partially to generally cloudy in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while the remaining provinces will be mostly clear with some partial cloudiness. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in a few locations of the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in one or two locations in the other provinces. The Terai region of the Koshi province may also experience strong winds.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has requested caution in the Koshi and Bagmati provinces, where heavy rainfall is expected, as it may impact agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air travel. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against possible disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion in these areas.
