RPP Chair Lingden criticizes govt's response to recent disasters

Kathmandu, October 1 — Rajendra Lingden, the chairman of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has criticized the statements made by the Prime Minister and some ministers during the recent disaster as inappropriate.

Through a post on social media platform X, Lingden commented that the government has failed to mitigate the damage caused by the disaster.

He accused the government of missing opportunities to reduce harm, despite warnings from meteorologists about the impending disasters.

“It was never possible to completely prevent disasters based on the meteorologist's red alert. However, damage could have certainly been minimized. The government has failed,” he stated, adding, “The remarks made by the Prime Minister and some ministers during this disaster are particularly objectionable.”

The heavy rains and subsequent landslides have resulted in the deaths of 217 people across the country, with many still reported missing.
