Oli slams Mayor Shah: 'Whimsical boy' lacks leadership credentials
Kathmandu, September 14 — Prime Minister KP Oli has criticized Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah, labeling him a "whimsical boy" who should not be in charge. Speaking at a party activist training session in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli stated:
“There is a new figure emerging who speaks recklessly. He should not be allowed to lead; if his unchecked remarks gain traction, they could become established. Even if a cat is carrying something and a bullet hits the prey, it will still be credited to the cat. We need to rid ourselves of such illusions.”
Oli also voiced frustration with the current state of the CPN-UML's publicity efforts. He noted that no other party matches the UML in terms of activists and supporters, yet mobile phones are not being effectively used for party promotion.
“We have the most activists and everyone has a mobile phone. However, these phones are quickly used to criticize our own members but are turned off when it comes to confronting the opposition. How can we fight under these circumstances?”
He criticized internal conflicts among party members and emphasized the need to address these issues directly. Oli stressed the importance of utilizing all available resources and persevering against strong opponents. He expressed concern about the lack of enthusiasm and activity among the activists.
Inquiring about party membership, Oli was informed that the UML has 2.32 million members. He pointed out that if each member recruited just one additional person, the party could achieve 4.6 million votes. Oli urged activists to enhance their efforts and adopt a more proactive approach.
