Parliamentary Hearing Committee to decide on 17 proposed ambassadors on Sunday

Kathmandu — A decision on the approval of proposed ambassadors for 17 countries is scheduled for Sunday. After reviewing the work plans of all proposed ambassadors, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) will decide whether to approve or reject the names recommended by the government.

During the PHC meeting held on Thursday, proposed ambassadors for four countries, including the United States, presented their work plans. The proposed ambassadors for 13 other countries had already submitted their work plans earlier.

The committee has confirmed that all 17 proposed ambassadors have submitted their work plans, and the upcoming meeting on Sunday will make a decision on their approval.

On July 29, the government recommended the appointment of Dr. Shankar Sharma (India), Prof. Krishna Prasad Oli (China), Lok Darshan Regmi (United States), Chandrakumar Ghimire (United Kingdom), Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe (South Korea), Prof. Dhan Prasad Pandit (Israel), Ram Krishna Bhattarai (Sri Lanka), and Rita Dhital (Pakistan) as residential ambassadors.

Additionally, the government recommended Naresh Bikram Dhakal (Saudi Arabia), Prof. Kapilman Shrestha (South Africa), Sunil Nepal (Spain), Dr. Shail Rupakheti (Germany), Junga Bahadur Chauhan (Russia), Ramesh Chandra Poudel (Qatar), Sumnima Tuladhar (Denmark), Dr. Netra Prasad Timilsina (Malaysia), and Prakashmani Pokhrel (Portugal).

According to Article 292 of Nepal’s Constitution, proposed ambassadors must undergo parliamentary hearings.
