Nepal being known to world through sports: PM Oli
Kathmandu, September 11 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has observed that Nepal was being known to the world through sports.
Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the National Sports Council on Wednesday, PM Oli viewed that Nepal was making international presence in the sports sector. The bronze medal secured by Palesha Goverdhan in the Paralympics 2024 is a recent milestone in this regard, he added.
The PM vowed that athlete Palesha would be provided Rs 6.5 million without tax as per the announcement made earlier. It would end the trend of non-implementation of the announcement of such rewards, the PM reminded. "I've been repeating that once Nepali gets a chance, he/she performs wonderfully. We can make and break records. I extend best wishes to all athletes," PM said.
Also the patron of the Council, Oli said, "Our target should be achievements in Japan Olympics and Asian Games. Let's prepare with adequate training accordingly."
According to him, will power is imperative till the last moment of competition.
On a different note, the head of the government said the institutions of sports should be run democratically. It is not good for the leadership to continue capturing any institution for the sake of individual interest.
On the occasion, PM Oli distributed the awards to various players who performed excellently during the last year
