Ashokraj Sigdel sworn in as new CoAS of Nepal Army

Kathmandu, September 9 – President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashokraj Sigdel during a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.

Nepal's Constitution designates the President as the supreme commander of the Nepal Army.

Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Oli, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony.

Prior to the swearing-in, President Paudel had conferred upon Sigdel the insignia of Commander-in-Chief.

According to the government's decision on August 28, President Paudel appointed Sigdel as the Chief of Army Staff, effective September 9.

With the oath-taking, Sigdel officially began his duties as Chief of Army Staff today. His predecessor was Prabhuram Sharma.
