Newari cohesion similar to socialism: Chair Prachanda
Kathmandu, September 7 — Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has viewed the cohesive practice and self-sustainable economy in the Newari community is similar to the socialist system. It should be further promoted, he stressed.
While addressing a cultural fair celebrated at Khokana of Lalitpur district every 12 years, he underlined the need for protecting the originality of Newa civilization for tourism promotion and economic prosperity.
In the programme organized on Saturday, the former Prime Minister argued the Newari community had extended support to different people's movements waged in the country. "Because of their support, agendas of social inclusion and gender equality were ensured in the constitution," he reminded.
According to him, Khokana has its own unique culture in the Kathmandu Valley.
Also reminded him that the occasion was official recognition of Nepal Sambat during his first premiership.
