NEPSE index falls to 2727 points amid fluctuations

Kathmandu, September 5 — The NEPSE stock market index dropped by 12 points on Thursday, closing the week at 2727 points. The index fluctuated significantly during the day, starting at 2740 points and peaking at 2759 points before falling.

Share prices for 101 companies increased, while 138 companies saw a decrease, and 5 companies' prices remained unchanged. Trading volume also declined, with 21 million shares of 316 companies being bought and sold, totaling NPR 9.65 billion. Nepal Finance Limited led in trading volume, with shares worth NPR 405 million changing hands.

This week saw considerable volatility in the stock market. The NEPSE index fell by 90.73 points on Wednesday, while Tuesday saw a modest rise of 6.94 points. Monday experienced a significant gain of 127.32 points, bringing the index to 2823 points, following a decline of 53.63 points on Sunday.

The index closed at 2749 points last Thursday, so this week ended down by 22 points at 2727. Overall, turnover did not see a significant increase.
